This past weekend a friend asked me to come visit her in Chicago. She tempted me by telling me about the Macy’s Flower Show. I had never heard of this event before and I’m so glad she told me about it! I had a fabulous time, and this visit was the beginning of an annual tradition.
I loved the official poster of the show (see photo below), but unfortunately they weren’t for sale. Looks like I’m not the only one who wanted to purchase one, someone started a group called We want Macy’s to sell their 2010 Flower Show Poster on facebook.
But even though I couldn’t purchase a bag I did score two shopping bags. I think I’m going to cut off the handles, frame it, and hang it up in my three season room. Almost as good as an actual poster!
The theme of this years flower show was Spring is in the Air. They had beautiful kites hung up on the ceiling, hundreds of hanging paper airplanes, and big balloon, and so much more. I loved that they played “Let’s go Fly a Kite”, one of my favorite songs from my childhood fav movie, Mary Poppins.
Here is a photo of some of the cute kites hanging from the ceiling. In the background you can see the paper planes.

I love the kites! They would be a great strung up on a patio or from the tree.
First of all, welcome to Blotanical. I really enjoy getting to “know” other gardeners and it’s a great source of inspiration and guidance.
I was lucky enough to stumble upon Macy’s Flower Show in NYC one year. We don’t have anything to compare to in Toronto. It was absolutely amazing. Looks like they are keeping the tradition alive.
I’m with you-they simply must sell that poster! They’d make a mint off from it. It is beautiful and so nostalgic like. At least to me. The bag is the next best thing and looks very nice as well. It would make a perfect substitute for the poster.
That is a beautiful poster and should be framed and in houses! I have never heard of this show before and how wonderful….
Together, these photos make a very beautiful post. So few garden bloggers design their posts as they would design their garden beds. And they should! Thanks for your comments at my blog.
